High Temperature Purification

When it comes to material processing and final products, high purity is of increasing importance. To assure maximum purity of the final product, it is sometimes necessary to purify the raw materials as well as the material used in the manufacturing process since they may come in contact with the work in progress. Of course, the purification of the finished product is also recommended. Candidate materials for purification by Advanced Carbon Technologies include refractories, carbon/graphite, high temperature composite materials, ceramics and certain metals and metal alloys.

ACT performs purification of various metals using high temperature induction furnaces which can be operated under vacuum or near atmospheric pressure using inert gas or halogen gas mixture. Depending upon process conditions and customer requirements, purity levels of processed materials range form several hundred to less than five (5) parts per million.

ACT offers a purification service that can be customized to your needs. Our purification furnace processes can be carried out over a wide range of temperatures (800°C - 2800°C); pressures (less than 1.0 torr to 760 torr); and furnace atmospheres including inert gases, reducing gases, and halogen gases or gas mixtures.

In addition, we have small furnaces available for exploratory work or to determine optimum process conditions (temperature, pressure, gases, cycle times) prior to full-scale production.
